Lakaz Chamarel Exclusive Lodge
Cycling the hillside road toward Chamarel, you reach Lakaz Chamarel Exclusive Lodge on five forested hectares above the village. Twenty units occupy the land in five categories. Three Kaz Standard rooms of 50 m² each share an 8-metre common pool; no television is installed. Four suites of 80 m² add bathtubs alongside open-air showers and share the common pool. Eight Mountain and Garden Pool Suites of 90 m² step up to private pools. Four Seaview Pool Suites of 105 m² face the Indian Ocean. One Exclusive Seaview Pool Suite runs 110 m². Four private villas reach 135 m² and include private pools. All bathrooms open to the air. Children aged twelve and older are admitted. Makak Restaurant serves breakfast as a buffet included in the half-board rate. Lunch runs à la carte with sandwiches, salads, and Mauritian dishes: tuna croustillant with heart-of-palm salad, braised wild boar with arrowroot purée. Thursday dinner is a buffet with live sega music. The View Bar overlooks the forest canopy; parakeets and flying foxes roost at dusk. Weekly yoga and aerial yoga sessions take place on site. The spa uses Chamarel coffee, coconut, moringa, and baobab oil in body scrubs and wraps. A shuttle runs Monday to Saturday to Le Morne beach. Bicycles are available for village rides. Guided hikes climb Piton Canot and Black River Peak, Mauritius's highest summit, from trails that start at the lodge boundary.
