Lappeasuando Hotel & Lodge

Set on the bank of the Kalix River on Route E10 between Kiruna and Gällivare, Lappeasuando Lodge holds eight rooms in Swedish Lapland. Each room carries a private bathroom and a separate entrance that opens directly onto the surrounding Arctic landscape. Large windows face the forest and river. The small scale — eight rooms total — creates a quiet base in wilderness where artificial light is absent and Northern Lights appear overhead during clear winter nights from September through late March.

Nordic design governs interiors: pale wood, clean lines, a colour palette drawn from snow and stone. The lodge arranges husky tours across snow-covered forest and frozen lakes; you drive your own sled behind a team of dogs. Snowmobile excursions and dog-sledding routes extend into the wider Lapland terrain. A traditional Swedish sauna can be booked separately. The on-site restaurant serves three-course dinners inspired by Lapland ingredients — reindeer, moose, fish from nearby rivers and lakes — alongside vegetarian and vegan preparations. From December through mid-April the kitchen offers homemade soup at midday. Dogs are permitted. Reservations for dining require advance telephone booking.
