Leopard Hills Private Game Lodge

Rangers conduct morning and evening game drives across 10,000 hectares of Sabi Sand traversing rights, from the Sand River in the north to open plains in the south. Drives follow no fixed schedule; routes respond to what you want to see that day. Walking safaris with a qualified trails guide depart after the morning drive or replace it entirely, tailored to fitness and interest. No children under sixteen may join. The lodge sits on a rocky outcrop in the western sector of the Sabi Sand Nature Reserve, which borders Kruger National Park with no fences between. Eight glass-fronted suites face the bush and a natural waterhole below. Each suite includes a private plunge pool, a sundeck, air-conditioning, overhead fans, a spacious lounge, and double indoor and outdoor showers. Beds are dressed in percale cotton, silk duvets, and mosquito netting. Mini-bars, Nespresso machines, Wi-Fi, and iPod docking stations are standard. The main lodge overlooks the waterhole from the same ridge. A traditional Shangaan boma hosts lantern-lit dinners after evening drives. Bush breakfasts unfold in clearings after morning game drives. Private dinners on suite decks are arranged for couples. The library, spa, wine cellar, and curio shop complete the property. Duncan and Louise Rodgers have managed the lodge since its opening in 1998. The property accommodates sixteen guests. Federal Air operates daily shuttle flights from Johannesburg; road transfers from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport take two hours.
