Lerai Safari Camp

Lerai Safari Camp sits inside the Olerai Conservancy, a 5,000-acre private conservancy in the greater Masai Mara ecosystem of southern Kenya, roughly fifteen miles north of Tanzania's Serengeti National Park and just west of the Masai Mara National Reserve. It is the only permanent camp within the conservancy. The conservancy shares an ecosystem border with Naboisho, and wildlife — wildebeest, zebra, elephant, giraffe, eland — moves freely between the two.

The camp holds eight tented suites, taking a maximum of sixteen guests at a time. Each tent sits beneath olive trees and bougainvillea; inside, botanical fabric runs from ceiling to headboard, with black-and-white prints and ochre tones throughout. Every suite has a plunge pool, en-suite bathroom, and a deck. The lounge and dining areas open onto a waterhole that giraffe, eland, zebra and baboons visit daily.

Game drives run at sunrise and before sunset. Night drives cover the conservancy's nocturnal residents — aardvark and civet among them. A resident leopard has been documented on the property. Guided walking safaris go out with a Maasai tracker. Guests can also visit Maasai villages on the conservancy's neighbouring land. Hot air balloon safaris over the Mara are available as an add-on, typically followed by breakfast on the plains.

The camp was built through 2018. It operates within the Wilder group of camps and lodges.
