Les Cabanes de Rensiwez

Set along the Ourthe river in the Belgian Ardennes near Houffalize, Les Cabanes de Rensiwez occupies forested land within the Natural Park of the Two Ourthes. The property comprises 25 cabins and six suites distributed across the valley and an elevated ridge. Cabins at river level include La Cabane d'Hélène and La Cabane de Gaspard, both thatched structures with thatch roofs built on stilts above the water. Each contains a wood stove, equipped kitchenette, and wooden bathtub screened behind a white birch shutter. Beds overhang the main sofa in a mezzanine arrangement. La Cabane de Gaspard adds a wood-fired sauna in a separate annex cabin reached from the terrace. Ridge cabins — including La Cabane d'Antoinette — sit higher in the forest, accessed via a 300-metre wooden footbridge with 250 steps. The Cabane d'Antoinette wraps in cedar shingles and contains a windowed bed facing the valley, a ground-floor kitchen, and a bluestone shower that opens through a large window. An outdoor wooden bathtub rests on a rock outcrop beside the cabin. Six suites occupy a converted mill building beside the river. Suite Danaé, clad entirely in charred wood, contains a blue stone shower, wooden bathtub, and elevated outdoor tub on a private terrace above the water. Suite Mahé features a four-poster bed opposite a wood-burning fireplace and a large wooden bathtub in the living room alcove. Guests staying in the mill suites share access to a sauna. The concierge arranges bicycle and mountain-bike rental, kayaking on the Ourthe between Maboge and La Roche-en-Ardenne, and fishing permits for the March-to-September season. Breakfast baskets and dinner provisions are delivered to each cabin on request.
