Lion Sands Tinga Lodge
Nine river-facing suites at Lion Sands, where Sabi Sand meets Kruger National Park
Skip to product information
On the Lion Sands Game Reserve, Tinga Lodge stands on raised ground above the Sabie River, where the private Sabi Sand reserve runs into Kruger National Park. The setting favours wildlife passing along the water below, and the lodge's camp-style architecture nods to safari's early era without giving up modern comfort. It is a small, personal stay: nine suites, each set apart from the next, each with its own plunge pool and deck facing the river. A suite here measures 125 square metres. Inside, expect a king bed under mosquito netting, air conditioning, a private lounge, and a full bath and shower; the sliding glass doors open straight onto the deck, where meals can be served privately and showers are taken in the open air. Elevated wooden walkways link the suites to the main building, which holds a bar, library, pool and boma, plus a wellness deck for treatments between game drives. The reserve itself covers 12,400 hectares and holds the Big Five among a wide range of resident species. Guides run twice-daily game drives and guided walks, and evenings can end at a treehouse under open sky. Check-in runs from 2pm.
