Luangwa River Camp

Luangwa River Camp sits on the bank of the Luangwa River inside South Luangwa National Park, under a grove of ebony trees. The ground in front of the camp — a stretch of river frontage the camp overlooks — draws elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, giraffe, and hippo in large numbers. South Luangwa sits at the southern reach of the Rift Valley system, where the river spreads into ox-bow lagoons, riverine woodland, and open plains. Over four hundred and fifty bird species have been recorded in the park.

The camp has five bush suites, each built in brick with a thatch roof. The ensuite bathrooms have sunken bathtubs that face outward through large sliding doors, which open onto a decked area and a direct view of the river. The bedroom doors open onto the same deck, letting air move through the room.

Activities run on site and off: game drives, guided walks, night drives, bird watching, and boating on the river when the season allows. Cultural tours are available away from the camp. The pool, communal dining area, and bar sit within the camp itself. A complimentary airport shuttle connects guests to the airstrip, and laundry is included at no additional charge.

The camp operates in English and is staffed around the clock.
