Makubi Safari Camp
Tracking wildlife on foot with FGASA-trained guides, Makubi Safari Camp operates as an owner-run base in Nyerere National Park, set above a lake frequented by hippos. Five tented suites face the water. Each holds a king-size bed, mosquito netting, an en-suite shower, a solar-powered fan and charging unit, and a veranda. One suite includes a private plunge pool. The camp is unfenced; elephants and other species move through the grounds.

Guided walking safaris depart daily with a professional tracker, covering the floodplain and teaching track identification and plant ecology. Game drives run at dawn and dusk, extending into tracked night drives to observe nocturnal species. Boat excursions on the Rufiji River reveal hippo pods and crocodiles along the banks. The park holds over four hundred bird species and a significant population of African wild dogs. Fly-camp setups in separate wildlife zones allow multi-day immersions under canvas.

Meals are served communal-style in the main lounge or under the stars, prepared by the in-house kitchen team. The camp uses solar power throughout. A hot-spring-fed pool sits within the grounds. Staff train through Wildlife Campus hospitality programmes and FGASA-aligned field courses. Light aircraft land on Nyerere's dirt strips; the flight from Dar es Salaam takes forty-five minutes. You can hear hippos from the tents at night.
