Set on a rocky outcrop of the Gabbro hills in the seventy-five-thousand-hectare Madikwe Game Reserve, Mateya Safari Lodge comprises five individually designed thatched suites arranged in a radial configuration around the hillside. Each suite overlooks a waterhole or the surrounding plains. The lodge accommodates a maximum of ten guests.
Every suite includes a private rim-flow pool, a natural window sala, air-conditioning, a fireplace, and an en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers. Mini-bar, tea and coffee facilities, dressing gowns, and complimentary laundry are standard. Suites feature individually commissioned artwork and literature.
The main lodge holds a dining area, lounge, library, gallery, bar, and spa. Meals are prepared daily by the in-house chef, with adaptations for dietary requirements. A fitness area and secure parking are available. The property offers complimentary internet access and mobile connectivity.
Guided game drives depart twice daily with a professional guide and tracker. Night drives extend into the reserve after dark. Guided walks track animals on foot. The reserve is malaria-free and home to the Big Five. You can hear wildlife from the deck. High tea is served between drives. The spa offers massage treatments. The wine selection includes South African reserves, and bottles are selected nightly for dinner. Battery charging and twenty-four-hour security are provided.
