Built on wooden platforms above granite rocks, the sixteen tents at Maweninga Camp look out over baobab savannah, the Rift Valley, and Lake Manyara in the distance. The camp sits in the north-west corner of Tarangire National Park, known for elephant herds and centuries-old baobab trees. Each 24 m² tent holds a double bed, rough-hewn timber furniture, and a dressing alcove with an en-suite bathroom—flush toilet, basin, and hot-water shower. Solar panels run lighting and heating round the clock. An open deck extends from each tent, cantilevered over the rock face.
The main building holds two restaurants, two bars, a fireplace, and a terrace overlooking the valley. Meals are prepared in-house. A fire is lit each evening beside the terrace. Wireless internet is available in the communal areas. Game drives depart into Tarangire with park rangers; walking safaris track greater kudu and elephant on foot through acacia and baobab groves. Night drives reveal nocturnal species after dark. The camp operates on a zero-plastic policy and sources produce from markets in the Manyara region. Hot-air balloon flights lift off at dawn and land with breakfast in the bush. Day excursions run south to the Kondoa rock paintings, which depict hunting scenes several thousand years old. Giraffes and elephants cross the horizon from the terrace at dusk.
