Mount Gahinga Lodge
Mount Gahinga Lodge sits at the base of the Virunga volcanoes in northern Uganda, within walking distance of Mgahinga National Park. Eight hand-built bandas face the volcanic peaks. Two carry the deluxe designation; six are standard. All hold en-suite bathrooms with double vanity and shower, fireplace, and private veranda. The bandas follow Bafumbira building traditions in their construction and design. A private footpath drops from the lodge into the park, where the Nyakagezi gorilla family — distinguished by multiple silverbacks — can be tracked. Golden-monkey walks trace the forest canopy where this rare primate lives. Volcano hikes of varying difficulty climb Gahinga, Sabyinyo, and Muhavura; most require a full day. The Kisozi Caldera lies less than one kilometre from the lodge and offers an easier ascent to a sweep of volcanic basin.

The Gahinga Batwa Village, supported by the Volcanoes Safaris Partnership Trust, invites visits to learn how this community has lived in the Central African rainforest for generations. A traditional dance group performs at the lodge. The Gushimisha Spa delivers massage treatments, including the Rungu technique. Butler service is assigned to each guest. The lounge, dining room, and gardens were remodelled in 2019. Wi-fi reaches throughout. The property opened in 2002.
