Mwezi Boutique Resort
Set on Jambiani Beach on Zanzibar's east coast, Mwezi Boutique Resort is individually decorated houses and La Luna Suite Apartments built on sand facing the Indian Ocean. The resort was designed by Italian designer Sandro Gurioli and combines traditional clay-and-wood construction with makuti roofs. Each house holds beds, living areas, and en-suite bathrooms with showers; all units face the sea. La Luna Suite Apartments are 40 m² open-plan units built of FSC-certified Nordic fir, each with a kitchenette equipped with an induction plate and refrigerator, a living area with a sofa that converts to a double bed, a king-size bedroom separated by a dividing wall, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, and a veranda overlooking the garden and pool. Two 360-degree infinity pools use salt water pumped from an on-site well. The restaurant serves breakfast; on Wednesday evenings a Swahili buffet is accompanied by live music and acrobatic performances. The massage centre operates by the shore. More than a hundred coconut palms shade the property, planted alongside banana, papaya, pineapple, and passion-fruit trees. Guided walks through Jambiani village depart from the resort. Snorkelling, boat cruises, and deep-sea fishing are arranged off-site. Laundry service and wireless internet are complimentary.
