Built on an anthill in Olifants West Nature Reserve, the camp overlooks a dry riverbed and waterhole in the Greater Kruger, sixteen kilometres from Hoedspruit. Six chalets accommodate up to twelve guests; each has a private deck, air-conditioning, king-size beds that reconfigure to twins, and en-suite bathrooms with rain showers facing the bushveld. Two chalets interlink for families. Chalets three and five face the garden; the remaining four face unbroken bush. USB-C and standard plugs sit at each bedside. The Drinkwater family has held the property for almost forty years; Nambu means river in IsiThonga.
Game drives depart twice daily — a three-hour morning safari and a two-hour afternoon one — across the Big Five reserve, which is open to Kruger National Park. Rangers stop for coffee at sunrise and sundowners with snacks at dusk. Over 250 bird species inhabit the reserve; tawny eagles nest at camp, and Pel's fishing owls hunt the Olifants River corridor. You can watch elephant herds drink at the waterhole from the tiled infinity pool. A boma fireplace anchors the main area; fires are lit before dinner. The lodge supplies three meals daily, with laundry and turndown service available on request.
