Ngorongoro Oldeani Mountain Lodge

Ngorongoro Oldeani Mountain Lodge sits on a hill outside Karatu, nine kilometres from the Ngorongoro Gate, on forty acres of gardens and local vegetation. From this elevation the views reach across the highland crater country and on a clear day extend as far as Lake Eyasi and Lake Manyara. Over a hundred and thirty bird species have been recorded in the grounds.

The lodge holds fifty-one rooms across two categories — thirty-four king-size and sixteen twin deluxe mini suites, plus the Livingstone Suite. Each suite has a private veranda and viewing deck, an en-suite bathroom with a slipper bath that looks out over the highlands, inside and outside showers, and double basins, along with a minibar and tea and coffee facilities. The Livingstone Suite adds a private jacuzzi deck, an infinity pool, and a living area with lounge, dining, bar, and kitchen.

The stone main house contains the dining room, main lounge, spa, rim-flow pool, billiards room, conference room, and a children's activity room with an open fireplace outside beside the pool. Game drives go out to Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara, including night drives in Lake Manyara National Park. On-site, guides lead bird walks, nature walks, and cycling routes through banana plantations to the Iraqw community villages nearby. A two-hour village walk in Mto wa Mbu, forty minutes away, covers local farms, schools, and the market.

The lodge is a hundred and thirty kilometres from Arusha and forty-three kilometres from Lake Manyara Airport.
