Nsala Wilderness Camp
Five thatched rondavel chalets on a dry riverbed in unfenced Big Five country

Teak sliding doors frame each of the five rondavel chalets, opening onto small patios furnished with chairs and a table that look over a dry riverbed below. Thatch roofs shelter the round structures; white linen covers the beds inside. The camp sits on a slope among marula and leadwood trees in the Umbabat reserve, which shares open borders with Timbavati, Klaserie, and Kruger National Park — wildlife moves freely across all four. A communal area under a high thatched roof holds the lounge, dining space, and a plunge pool that elephants sometimes use as a drinking point. The boma encircles a firepit where dinner is served in the open air.
Game drives depart twice daily in open vehicles, each lasting roughly three hours. Morning drives pause for coffee; afternoon drives stop for sundowners as light drops, then continue as night drives tracking nocturnal species. Guides work routes according to recent sightings — lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, and elephant all move through the area, along with kudu, nyala, waterbuck, impala, giraffe, hyena, and occasional cheetah and wild dog. The camp runs off-grid on windmill-pumped water heated by wood-fired donkey boilers. Monkeys and mongoose cross the elevated deck throughout the day. Each chalet can be configured with twin beds or a king; two additional beds fit when needed.
