Praia da Mariquita

Praia da Mariquita is a family-run beach resort at the mouth of a dry river valley between desert mountains, eighty kilometres north of Namibe on Angola's southern coast. The property sits at the base of the valley, not the summit; latitude 14°46'00", longitude 12°17'00". Bungalows and rooms face either the sea or the mountains and are equipped with air conditioning. A restaurant serves in-house guests only, supplied daily by the resort's artisanal fishing operation. Two swimming pools, a bar, a gymnasium, and a games room with snooker and table football anchor communal space. A living room with a television is shared by all guests.

Activities include fishing, diving, hiking, and guided tours to natural pools and Piambo. A mini-golf course, massage therapy, and courts for squash, football, handball, and basketball are on-site. The resort promotes local handicraft; a shop sells quartz pieces, carved wood, ironwork, paintings, and textiles. Guests may participate in the daily fishing effort. There is no telephone network on the beach; communication is by email. Reservations are required before arrival, as logistics must be arranged in advance given the location. The property operates with an environmental focus and sells surplus fresh fish to clients.
