Set on a twelve-thousand-hectare wilderness concession in the south-western section of Kruger National Park, Rhino Post Safari Lodge overlooks the perennially dry Mutlumuvi riverbed. Eight thatched suites occupy stilts above the sand. Canvas walls, wooden floors, and overhead fans define each room. The ensuite bathroom holds a freestanding bath, twin basins, and an outdoor shower. Every suite opens onto a private deck shaded by riverine trees. Raised wooden walkways link the suites to the main lodge.
The bar, lounge, and viewing deck face a waterhole fed by borehole. A swimming pool occupies a slope reached by an old elephant path. The dining area allows for meals indoors or under the stars. A generator powers the lodge until after dinner, then switches off; individual batteries and inverters keep fans and lights running overnight. The curio shop and reception share a single desk.
Morning and evening game drives depart in open Land Cruisers. Guides hold the highest South African National Parks qualifications. The concession borders Mala Mala, and animals move freely between the two properties. Drives continue on 170 kilometres of Park roads after gate closing, when day visitors have left. No off-road driving occurs. Birding safaris can be arranged with a private guide. Pre-booked sleep-outs take place on raised platforms at a sister camp, where meals cook over open flame. In-room massage treatments run between 06h30 and 13h30. You can hear nocturnal animals from the deck. A Dobsonian telescope tracks southern constellations on clear nights. The lodge sits thirty minutes by road from Skukuza Airport.
