Roca River Camp

White linen covers the beds in each of the nine tented suites on the banks of the Mara River. Handmade furniture, woven carpets, and flush toilets fill the canvas structures; showers run on request with ample hot water. Five tents face the river; four look across Paradise Plains. The camp sits in shade cast by the riverine forest, twenty minutes by road from Musiara Airstrip. Ross and Caro — the owners — host and guide each stay. Game drives depart at dawn and late afternoon in private-use four-by-fours, with routes tailored daily to what you want to see. Rangers lead one walking safari per group along the edge of the reserve. Bush breakfasts unfold under acacia on the open plains; sundowner drinks are served at vantage points chosen that afternoon. The camp runs entirely on solar power stored in an inverter system, with a standby generator. Fans and hairdryers are available on request. Three family tents comprise a double room and a twin room, both en suite, linked by a shared lounge. Hot-water bottles are placed in beds each evening. Dinner is served outdoors along the riverbank, with all guests and hosts seated together. The camp can be booked exclusively. Laundry is hand-washed and returned within a day. Guests can arrange visits to the Mara Elephant Project, the Mara Predator Project, and the Mara Raptor Project, with talks given in camp. Maasai beading ladies visit on request to teach the craft. The camp lies within the Masai Mara National Reserve, with direct access to both the main reserve and the Mara Triangle.
