Rosenhof Country House
Framed by yellowwood beams and original ceilings from 1852, the main homestead opens onto a rose garden that gave the property its name. Rosenhof Country House stands in Oudtshoorn, a Klein Karoo town en route to the Cango Caves and Swartberg Pass. The five-star guesthouse has been owned and run by Nic and Ferda Barrow since opening in 1992. Fourteen rooms occupy the renovated homestead and separate structures on the grounds.

Twelve courtyard rooms face inward onto a central patio. Each features air conditioning, underfloor heating, satellite television, minibar, safe, and tea facilities. En-suite bathrooms include separate bath and shower, heated towel rails, and hairdryer. Rooms are furnished individually with antique pieces and warm earth tones. Two executive suites stand 100 metres from the main house. The one-bedroom Robin Suite and two-bedroom Finch Suite each provide a separate lounge with fireplace, private parking, and a pool set in its own garden with Swartberg Mountain views. Bird's Cottage holds three en-suite bedrooms on the first floor; one bedroom includes a sitting room with sleeper couch. A shared lounge downstairs opens to a terrace and pool.

The Country Kitchen serves a five-course table d'hôte menu that changes daily with seasonal produce. Meals are taken in the dining rooms, on verandas, or beside the pool. A walk-in cellar stocks South African vintages. The wellness centre includes gym, sauna, and spa. The property sits within reach of ostrich farms, the Cango wildlife ranch, and hiking trails in the Swartberg range.
