Royal Ingwe River Lodge
Seven suites on the Olifants River, 45 minutes from Hoedspruit
Set along a bend of the Olifants River within Olifants West Nature Reserve, Royal Ingwe River Lodge is seven suites on the unfenced western boundary of Kruger National Park. Each suite is furnished with handmade pieces crafted by local artisans from sustainably sourced materials and features original artworks by South African artists. Super-king beds convert to twins. Living spaces range from 60.5 m² to 79 m², with wooden decks extending between 21 m² and 79 m². The Maathai and Lotter suites have indoor and outdoor showers and outside daybeds. The George Adamson suite spans 79 m² with a wrap-around 73 m² deck and an inside fireplace; it connects to the Joy Adamson suite to form an interleading family unit. The Sheldrick, Ian Player, and Ntombela suites feature fireplaces and terraces with river views. All rooms have air-conditioning, mosquito nets, minibars, and complimentary wireless internet.
Guides and trackers lead morning and evening game drives through the reserve in open vehicles. Guided walking safaris track animals on foot. Three private hides overlook waterholes; one accommodates spa treatments. The lodge serves breakfast, lunch, high tea, and four-course dinners using locally sourced seasonal produce. A separate kosher kitchen operates on site. The wine cellar opens onto the water and hosts tastings beyond the seven house wines included in rates. A 25-metre lap pool, gym, and spa overlook the bush. You can hear the river from the deck. The reserve adjoins one of Africa's largest free-roaming conservation areas. Hoedspruit Airport is 45 minutes by road.
