Sausage Tree Safari Camp

Aluminium and glass sliding doors frame the front of each tented suite in an uninterrupted span that opens the canvas interior to the dry riverbed below. Three superior safari tents hold king or twin beds; two larger luxury tented suites add a sofa that converts to a sleeper for families with young children. All five include air-conditioning, en-suite baths, outdoor showers and private decks with chairs and sunloungers. The camp sits within Olifants West Nature Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger ecosystem that supports lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros and Cape buffalo across unfenced traverse. Twice-daily game drives depart at dawn and late afternoon in open 4x4 vehicles; rangers adjust routes according to tracker reports and what you hope to see that morning. Night drives use spotlights to locate leopards returning from hunts, hyenas on the move and smaller nocturnal species invisible by day. Walking safaris with a ranger cover tracking, plant identification and the smaller mechanics of the ecosystem. A waterhole fronts the main lodge; hippo, civet, genet and porcupine appear on camera traps each night. The pool deck overlooks the waterhole and the Drakensberg range beyond. Chef Pitso prepares meals from locally sourced ingredients; candlelit dinners unfold on the sky deck under stars. Spa treatments are available on request. The camp runs on solar power.
