Shangri-La Village Resort

Shangri-La Village Resort sits in Pokhara, a city in Nepal's Western Region, with a direct view of the Annapurna range. The site was chosen from a 1952 photograph of that mountain view; the resort was built there in 1990, on the same spot the photograph was taken.
The buildings are modelled on the forms and textures of traditional Nepali village architecture, set within gardens that hold a wide variety of plants and flowers, a fish pond, and hammocks. A swimming pool and spa are also on the property, along with restaurants and bars.
The resort arranges bookings for activities in the surrounding region: paragliding, ultra-light aircraft flights, boating, and hiking. Pokhara is one of Nepal's main bases for Annapurna-area trekking, and the resort's staff can connect you with the relevant operators.
Gharipatan, the district where the resort stands, is within Pokhara city — close enough to the lake and the main tourist strip to reach both on foot or by short ride, while the garden grounds give the property some distance from street noise.
