Built with local materials in warm earth tones, the five cottages sit on the same ridge as Soroi Lions Bluff, overlooking Lumo Conservancy. Three hold a king-size bed; two add a single bed. Each has hot and cold running water, a private bathroom with an indoor shower, and a veranda facing west across the conservancy. On clear mornings the outline of Mount Kilimanjaro appears above the savannah, with the Taita Hills closer in and the plains of Mukamazi visible to the south. Complimentary wireless internet and drinking water are provided.
Game drives depart in custom four-wheel-drive vehicles with a ranger and tracker. Night drives leave after dusk to track leopard, lion, and nocturnal species not seen during the day — a permit available only in community conservancies, not in the national parks. Guided bush walks cover animal tracks, endemic birds, and plants used by the Taita people. A partially submerged photographic hide sits at a waterhole where elephants, eland, and lesser kudu drink at eye level; the hide has overnight facilities for photographers who want to stay through dawn light. Bush breakfasts are cooked under a tree after an early walk. A day can be spent hiking the Taita Hills or visiting Mzima Springs in Tsavo West, an underwater viewing chamber where hippos and crocodiles move through clear water fed by the Chyulu Hills. Laundry service and in-room spa treatments are available on request.
