Set beneath acacia and baobab canopy in the southern section of Tarangire National Park, Swala Camp comprises twelve tented suites overlooking a waterhole that draws elephant herds and a resident impala population. The camp is built on stilts around mature baobabs in a secluded area away from the park's main routes. Each suite is open-plan with king-size bed, indoor and outdoor showers, and a private deck facing the savannah. Walls separate the sleeping and bathing areas. The floors are timber.
The elevated lounge, dining area and bar occupy stilted decks built around the trees. A swimming pool sits at the base of an ancient baobab. A sunken boma between the pool and deck hosts evening gatherings beneath clear skies. Daily game drives depart with professional guides and trackers. Night drives use custom-equipped vehicles to track bat-eared fox, hyena and nocturnal cats. Walking safaris explore the baobab groves with armed rangers. Optional hot-air balloon flights lift guests above the plains at sunrise. The camp sits in an area where light pollution is absent after ten each evening, revealing the full span of stars. Bush picnics and dinners are arranged in clearings across the concession. Elephants, buffaloes, leopards and zebras pass through camp regularly. The Tarangire River sustains wildlife concentrations year-round, with the highest density between June and October when herds migrate through the park.
