Tambuti Lodge, Namibia
Above the Kavango River in Rundu, the lodge holds eight rooms split between family and double configurations. Rooms numbered two, three, and four face the river and Angola beyond; family room one shares that view, while family rooms five through eight look onto the garden. Each veranda opens onto fruit trees — mango, avocado, passion fruit, pawpaw — and indigenous species. Queen-size beds, air-conditioning, fans, mosquito nets, refrigerators, and tea kettles are standard. Family rooms add bathtubs alongside showers and accommodate three to four guests with a single bed and optional additional bed. The restaurant specialises in Kavango cuisine using ingredients from the Kavango East and West regions. Herbs — mint, basil, parsley, oregano, ginger — grow in the lodge's own plots, as do spinach, cabbage, onion, and salad vegetables. Breakfast includes millet pancakes, roasted manketti nuts for cereal, and mutete juice pressed from rosella flowers. Sunset cruises on the Kavango floodplain operate from Samsitu Camp fifteen kilometres outside Rundu; the lodge arranges bookings and guests drive themselves. Kayaks are available for self-guided exploration along the river. The Mbunza Living Museum, fifteen kilometres from the lodge, demonstrates traditional Mbunza culture and crafts. The property includes a pool, secure parking, laundry service, and conference facilities. Staff speak English, French, German, and Portuguese.
