A branch from the property's giant Milkwood wraps around the original main bedroom on one of six levels. Russian immigrant Constantine Vladykin built the house in 1968 as a family retreat and planted it among palms and indigenous Milkwood trees on Marine Drive. The structure languished with three generations of the Vladykin family before Debbie Davidson and her two daughters converted it in 2003 into eight individually designed suites. Each suite carries its own scent, soundtrack, and evening confectionary. The Milkwood Suite sits under the canopy of the old tree. The Juliet Suite occupies the top floor with twin Juliet balconies opening to the sea. The Vladykin Suite honours the Russian legacy with period furnishings and a private balcony over the garden. Every suite includes an extra-length king-size bed or twins, air-conditioning, a handcrafted ceiling fan, and an open-plan bathroom with freestanding bath, rain-dance shower, double basins, and a separate toilet with bidet. The spa operates daily with two treatment rooms and offers Dermalogica facials, chemical peels, CBD massage, and reflexology. Therapists prepare guests with cappuccino in a relaxation area. The lodge runs complimentary shuttles to local restaurants. A breakfast menu is cooked to order in the open-plan kitchen; the dining room overlooks the Indian Ocean through Milkwood branches. Umhlanga village sits one kilometre up the road.
