The Cellars Hohenort

Set in Constantia Valley fifteen minutes from Cape Town's centre, The Cellars-Hohenort spreads across two buildings within nine acres of garden. The property holds 51 rooms and suites divided between the Cellars main house and the historic Hohenort manor house, each building differing in character. Rooms in the main house carry contemporary design; those in the manor follow an Edwardian layout. All rooms face either Table Mountain or the garden. The smallest measure 27 m²; the largest suites reach 77 m². Premier suites include a separate lounge, kitchenette, and en-suite bathroom. The Madiba villa is a self-contained two-storey building with three en-suite bedrooms, a private pool, and a courtyard screened from the main property. The Liz McGrath villa holds two en-suite bedrooms, a wood-panelled kitchen, and a lounge with fireplace.

The Conservatory restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner drawn from seasonal Cape produce. The Greenhouse bar stocks natural wines—organic, biodynamic, and minimal-intervention bottles from the South African winelands—alongside a cocktail list and craft beer. High tea includes cucumber sandwiches, milk tarts, scones, and Chantilly cream. Fresh Wellness Spa sits within the garden, using indigenous ingredients in its treatments. Two heated outdoor pools occupy separate areas of the grounds. You can hear hadedas calling from the verandahs at dawn. The garden contains the country's second-oldest camphor trees, a small working vineyard, and a herb plot beside the villa courtyard. A tennis court lies near the main house.
