Restoring Henry Fancourt White's 1850s Cotswold-style mansion as an 18-suite country hotel
Original wooden ceiling finishes meet chandeliers and underfloor heating in suites fitted with freestanding baths, mini bars, and walk-in dressing rooms. The Manor House is an 18-suite country hotel in an 1850s mansion at Blanco, beneath the Outeniqua Mountains. British engineer Henry Fancourt White built the house in the style of a Cotswold mansion in 1859; it changed hands through 11 owners before conversion to a hotel in 1987. Brain surgeon Dr. Roland Anthony Krynauw restored the building in 1960 after 30 years of neglect. Today the hotel occupies a quadrangular structure on 613 hectares of Garden Route countryside.
The Presidential Suite holds two bedrooms, an open-plan lounge and dining room, en-suite bathrooms, and a private balcony. Oakland Suites feature separate living areas, walk-in dressing rooms, and balconies. Homewood Suites offer lounge areas with balconies or patios. All suites carry luxury bath products by The White Company, air conditioning, heated towel rails, safes, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Henry White's restaurant serves a four-course menu for private dining and groups only.
The spa holds a heated Roman bath at 31°C, sauna, steam room, and tepidarium with aromatherapy vents; treatments include massages, facials, manicures, and pedicures. Two swimming pools—one outdoor with Jacuzzi, one heated indoor—anchor the leisure centre. Four Gary Player golf courses lie on the estate: the Outeniqua, Montagu, Links, and Links Experience. Tennis courts, fishing dams, and 2.5 km, 5 km, and 10 km leisure trails cross the property. The Botanical Walk passes indigenous plant species.
