The Regent Maldives

Adaaran Prestige Water Villas is an adults-only property built entirely overwater on a natural island in North Malé Atoll. Twenty villas, each roughly 84 square metres, stand on a teak deck above the lagoon, connected to the island by a single jetty. The island keeps one of the stronger house reefs in the Maldives, close enough that guests reach coral without a boat. Glass panels in some villas let the reef show through the floor. Each villa carries a private jacuzzi, a sun deck and butler service, folded into a full-board rate that also includes snorkel gear and non-motorised water sports. Meals run across a handful of restaurants, with seafood brought in by local dhoni boats a fixture of the menu. Waves are gentle here; this is not a surf island. Weddings take place on the sand at dusk, under lanterns rather than a chapel roof. Transfers arrive by seaplane or by a domestic flight paired with a speedboat, and guests staying a week or more between April and October get that leg for free. Spa treatments draw on Balinese technique, and the therapists work with botanical oils rather than a fixed menu. It is a compact, single-purpose resort: no children, no crowds, one reef doing most of the talking.
