The Wallow Lodge
Set on the banks of the Masuwe River inside Victoria Falls National Park, The Wallow Lodge occupies a private concession within the 4,500-acre Wild Horizons Wildlife Sanctuary. Sixteen canvas suites stand raised beneath ancient riverine trees, each on an elevated deck with a private balcony overlooking the river and the wilderness beyond. Victoria Falls — Mosi-oa-Tunya, the Smoke That Thunders — lies twenty minutes away by road. The main deck holds a swimming pool and sunken fireplace above the water.

Each suite accommodates two guests and includes an ensuite bedroom, separate sitting room, and outdoor shower. Chitenge cushion covers in vibrant local fabric bring a touch of regional character to the interiors. Canvas walls preserve the rhythm of classic safari architecture. Tea and coffee facilities, electronic safes, and international plug adaptors are standard.

Morning and evening game drives cross the sanctuary with professional guides; routes follow the calls and contours of the land. Guests visit the Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust, a conservation project within the sanctuary that focuses on wildlife rehabilitation and community education. Guided walking tours of Victoria Falls rainforest explain the geology, flora, and history of the waterfall. A signature sundowner takes place on the rim of the Batoka Gorge, where the Zambezi rapids run 120 metres below. Solar heating and locally sourced materials underpin the lodge's construction and daily operation.
