Teak decks face a dry riverbed where elephant and giraffe cross in sight of the main pool. Thornybush Game Lodge stands within Thornybush Nature Reserve, bordering Kruger National Park. Sixteen suites spread along the riverbed line, each with a private deck, en-suite bathroom, indoor and outdoor shower, air-conditioning, mini-bar, and safe. Two family suites add a plunge pool and lounge with sleeper couch for children. All rooms have large glass doors looking directly into the surrounding savannah.
Twice-daily game drives depart at dawn and late afternoon with an experienced guide and tracker in open Land Cruisers. The reserve holds lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo. Guided bush walks leave after breakfast, focusing on smaller species and tracking technique. The wellness centre offers treatments using Africology natural skincare. A conference centre seats sixty delegates. The main lodge includes a restaurant, bar, library, and viewing deck above the riverbed. Hot-air balloon flights over the Blyde River depart at sunrise. Children receive a backpack on arrival and may join the Ranger in Training programme. Kamara House, a separate private villa with its own plunge pool and dedicated butler, accommodates groups or families wanting exclusive use. Laundry service, wireless internet, and twenty-four-hour security are standard.
