Canvas walls frame views of the Luangwa River or an oxbow lagoon from each of the five tents that make up this seasonal camp. The camp sits at the confluence of the Luangwa, Luzangazi, and Kapamba rivers in the southern sector of South Luangwa National Park, a two-hour drive south of Kafunta River Lodge and seven kilometres upriver from Island Bush Camp. Each tent includes twin beds, a sitting area, gauze windows, and an en-suite bathroom with dual sinks, a flushing toilet, and a choice between indoor and outdoor showers. A private raised platform connects directly to each tent—you can move a mattress onto the deck and sleep under open sky.
Game drives depart into the remote eastern plains where herds of elephant and buffalo move through open grassland and riverine forest. Giraffe, puku, impala, and kudu cross the oxbow lagoons; wild dog and lion track the herds. Walking safaris focus on smaller detail—critters, birds, flora, spoor—though you often encounter elephant, giraffe, and antelope on foot. Certified guides and armed scouts lead every walk. The camp operates seasonally and lies in a lightly visited area where wildlife remains less habituated to vehicles than in other parts of the park. Guests can walk between Three Rivers and Island Bush Camp as part of a longer itinerary. Meals are served outdoors on the riverbank. Kafunta Safaris has owned and operated the camp since it opened in 2017.
