Varu by Atmosphere

Set on Madivaru island in North Malé Atoll, VARU by Atmosphere is reached by a forty-minute speedboat transfer from Malé International Airport. Sixty-eight villas occupy beachfront and overwater plots. Beach villas span 75 m² and open through floor-to-ceiling glass doors onto verandas with direct sand access; open-air baths adjoin. Beach villas with pool add private plunge pools within 90 m² footprints. Water villas extend 95 m² over the lagoon on stilts; pool-equipped water villas match that area. The standalone water suite covers 155 m² and sits alone above the reef. A two-bedroom beach villa with pool totals 175 m², while the Majlis Residence—two king bedrooms around a central courtyard—measures 330 m².

Seven dining venues operate across the island. Kaagé serves Maldivian dishes with snapper in coconut gravy and tuna cutlets; the building replicates a traditional house with two courtyards. NÜ offers Mediterranean-style seafood. Teppanyaki Over Water presents Japanese cooking above the water. Charcoal grills steaks. Lime & Chili runs breakfast and buffet meals. Cellar at NÜ, an overwater wine room, stocks Champagne, European, and New World bottles paired with cheese and charcuterie. Bay Rouge, the pool bar, serves cocktails and light snacks. The spa, ELE | NA, is built over the lagoon. A PADI-certified dive centre with multilingual instructors runs day and night dives on surrounding reefs. Snorkelling gear, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and jet skis are available for use in the lagoon.
