Arriving by catamaran across Lake Lucerne, then by vintage funicular up the final 500 metres, guests reach the Waldhotel before they reach their room. The journey sets the tone: this is a hotel built around arrival as a form of decompression, part of the wider Bürgenstock Resort on the ridge above the lake. Inside, the mood is calm rather than grand. The 137 rooms and suites favour timber, stone and light over ornament, each with south-facing terraces looking onto the Alps and forest below. Alpine Deluxe rooms run 40 to 44 m², with a King-size bed and balcony or terrace; the Serenity Suite extends to 145 m², and the two-bedroom Vitality Suite to 151 m². Wellness is treated as infrastructure rather than an add-on. The Waldhotel Spa runs alongside a fitness room with an outdoor training area, forest trails for walking or running, and a cooking lab where guests learn to prepare meals matched to their own dietary programme. Meals are colour-coded to individual health goals, from breakfast through dinner. You can walk from breakfast straight onto a forest path without leaving the property. Guests also have use of a shuttle boat, and can reach the resort's golf course and tennis courts nearby. It is a quiet, wellness-first counterpart to the resort's larger heritage hotel, aimed at guests who came up the mountain to slow down.
