Wayo Serengeti Green Camp South sits in the southern reaches of Serengeti National Park, positioned to meet the wildebeest herds when they move down onto the lower plains for calving. The camp is seasonal and moves with the main wildebeest events through the year — when the herds shift, so does the camp.

The tents are sewn by hand by local teams based near Arusha National Park. Each tent uses a wide mesh frontage that runs one hundred and eighty degrees, which means one full wall is open to the landscape rather than screened by canvas. A stretch canvas roof provides shade and privacy while keeping the view intact. Inside, each tent has an ensuite bathroom with a water-conserving flush toilet and a bucket shower.

The interiors were developed with the help of anthropologists and designers, drawing on craft traditions from communities around the region. Bed panels are made from banana leaves sourced in Mto Wa Mbu. Cushions use Maasai beadwork belts. Chandeliers are made from Chaga cups. Each piece carries a traceable local origin. The approach is deliberate: the camp is intended to show guests local craft alongside local wildlife, rather than treating the two as separate concerns.

The camp sits at approximately one degree fifty south, thirty-four degrees fifty east, on the southern Serengeti plains.
