Wilderness Linkwasha

Linkwasha occupies a private concession along the edge of the Ngamo Plains, where the south-eastern section of Hwange National Park meets open grassland and scattered pans. Plains game move through year-round, with lion, cheetah, and African wild dog following. When the dry season tightens water sources across the park, the waterhole directly in front of camp draws large concentrations of elephant and buffalo.

Nine canvas tents stand under leadwood trees, each facing that waterhole and the plain beyond. Eight are configured as twins and one is a two-room family unit with separate bathrooms; the main bedroom converts to a king-size bed on request. Every tent has a verandah, mini-bar, safe, mosquito nets, and complimentary internet access. The main area spans multi-level decks with a pool, a bar, and a winter lounge with a library, all looking onto the waterhole.

Game drives run in open four-wheel-drive vehicles by day and after dark. Night drives regularly produce lesser bushbaby, pangolin, caracal, and honey badger. The sunken hide at the waterhole lets you watch elephant drink and bathe at close range without disturbing them. Guided walks cover the same terrain on foot. At Scott's Pan, a raised platform is used for a star-bed sleep-out, weather permitting and subject to the camp manager's call.

Linkwasha and the adjacent Makalolo Private Wilderness Reserve together cover thirty-four thousand hectares of exclusive land. Cultural village visits, led by local community members or Wilderness guides, run off-site. Hwange is Zimbabwe's largest and oldest gazetted national park.
