Wilderness Linyanti Tented Camp

Linyanti Tented Camp sits on the bank of the Linyanti River in one of Botswana's more remote wildlife concessions, the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve. The camp looks out over the marsh and surrounding floodplains; to the north runs the Linyanti River, and to the south lies the Savuti Channel. Eight large en-suite tents are divided between two satellite camps — East and West — each holding four tents, tucked under tall riverine trees. The tents follow a plain explorer style: fan-cooled, mosquito-netted, with a verandah facing the water.

The habitats within the concession vary enough to make full-day excursions worthwhile: floodplains, open dry-land savannah, woodland, and lagoons. Guides go out on morning and afternoon game drives and night drives; after dark, spotlights pick out lesser bushbabies, large-spotted genets, aardwolf, and serval. The log-pile hide, a short drive from the tents, is positioned to watch large numbers of elephant moving through the area during the dry season. Guided walking safaris cover tracks, signs, fruits, and roots, subject to weather and the availability of a qualified walking guide.

Wildlife in the concession includes buffalo, elephant, lion, leopard, spotted hyena, African wild dog, and the less common roan and sable antelope. During the dry winter months, elephant herds congregate along the waterways in large numbers. The pool deck and a campfire on the riverbank sand serve as the main gathering points back in camp. Sole use of the camp can be booked, subject to availability.
