Wilderness Little Mombo

Wilderness Mombo sits on Mombo Island, just off the northern tip of Chief's Island inside Moremi Game Reserve, in the Okavango Delta. The camp overlooks a floodplain where large concentrations of plains game gather in front of the tents — elephant, buffalo, and a wide range of antelope — followed by lion, leopard, wild dog, and cheetah. The Bayei people who have lived in this part of the Delta have long called the area the 'Place of Plenty', and the wildlife density justifies that name throughout the year. When the annual inundation arrives, it forms a natural barrier that keeps game concentrated on the island.

The camp holds eight canvas suites, each raised off the ground to face the floodplain. Every suite has an indoor lounge, a separate bedroom, indoor and outdoor showers, a copper bathtub, a private plunge pool, a sala, and a wrap-around deck. A family suite sleeps four with a double and twin beds and its own pool. Game drives run in open 4x4 vehicles carrying a maximum of four guests, so each person has an unobstructed view. Bush brunches are served in the field after morning drives, using locally sourced ingredients.

Mombo shares a spa, gym, lap pool, and safari boutique with the adjacent Wilderness Little Mombo. Traditional dinners are held in the boma. The camp also runs a baobab conservation project on its traversing area, with twenty-six young trees now protected by log-pile and wire-mesh fencing. Helicopter flights are available at an additional cost. Over four hundred bird species have been recorded across the Okavango Delta.
