Conservation and community engagement at Wilderness Magashi

Wilderness Magashi operates with a fully solar-powered camp and avoids single-use plastics to reduce environmental impact. The lodge supports local education through an Eco-Club at a nearby primary school. One-third of the staff come from local communities, benefiting from ongoing training aimed at career progression. The camp also collaborates with community cooperatives that produce items such as lunch bags, beeswax wraps, candles, and carved wooden decorations used within the camp. These initiatives combine conservation efforts with community support in the Akagera region of Rwanda.
