Aman Villas at Nusa Dua

Aman Villas at Nusa Dua is one of the brand's earliest Indonesian addresses, opened in 1992 the same year as sister property Amankila. It sits on the southern tip of Bali, on the Nusa Dua peninsula, where the villas are set apart from each other across grounds thick with tropical planting. Each villa has its own pool. The layout favours seclusion over shared space: an open-air dining pavilion, a living area, a library and a home theatre sit within the villa itself, so guests rarely need to leave it. Two butlers and a private chef are assigned to each stay, and meals draw on Indonesian and international recipes cooked with produce sourced on the island. Spa treatments, including massage and clay body wraps, are carried out in the villa rather than a communal spa building. The property also holds exclusive use of a Beach Terrace, giving direct access to the shore without crossing shared resort land. It is a compact, low-key sort of grandeur. You can hear the garden before you see the sea, the pools and hedges giving way only gradually to the terrace and the water beyond. Little at Nusa Dua has changed in structure since the early 1990s, and the villas still read as a quiet, self-contained retreat rather than a resort with rooms.
