Fothergill Island Accommodation
Boat and drive safaris from ten suites on a Lake Kariba island
Arriving by boat to Fothergill Island in Matusadona National Park, guests reach two linked camps comprising ten tented suites. Five Lake Suites and two Lake Family Suites stand on raised platforms in mopane forest or along the shore of Lake Kariba, each with an en-suite bathroom, writing desk, lounge area, mini bar, tea and coffee station, private plunge pool, and shaded daybed. Lake Family Suites span approximately 1,700 square feet of decking and include a second bedroom with its own en-suite. Three Island Suites feature four-poster beds, en-suite bathrooms with selected outdoor baths and showers, and secluded decks overlooking the lake; a central lounge, dining area, bar, and alfresco deck with swimming pool connect via raised walkways.
Game drives depart at sunrise and sunset in 4x4 vehicles fitted with adjustable seating, padded roll bars, and charging stations. Guided walking safaris track wildlife on foot. Boat safaris cruise the lake for hippos, crocodiles, and elephants. Catch-and-release fishing for tilapia and catfish operates with conventional and fly-fishing gear. A gym, communal dining tent, bar, and pool serve both camps. Activities for children include a mini ranger course and archery. Laundry service, wireless internet, and mini bar are complimentary.
