Jungle Beach an Uga Experience

Wedged between still lagoon water and four kilometres of open beach, the cabins at Jungle Beach sit inside a ten-acre mangrove reserve on Sri Lanka's north-east coast. Birdsong carries over from the trees at dawn, and at dusk the lagoon goes quiet enough to hear waves land on the sand beyond it. The property holds 49 cabins across four types: Lagoon Cabins at 680 sq ft with garden or water views, Jungle Cabins at 780 sq ft with outdoor rain showers under the canopy, Beach Cabins of the same size with direct paths to the shore, and three-cabin Jungle Cluster units of 860 sq ft each, built around a shared pool. Giant squirrels and purple-faced langurs move through the trees near the Jungle Cabins, and geckos call after dark. Botanical prints and jewel-toned cushions furnish the interiors, with queen beds throughout and twin options in the Lagoon Cabins. Pigeon Island's coral reefs lie 13 km away, and Nilaveli's beach sits closer still, at 12 km. Whale and dolphin sightings run from waters 11 km out. The restaurant seats 75 and works alongside a beach bar; dining can move to a tree platform or the sand on request. Check-in runs from 2pm. The resort draws its produce locally and runs its own tree-planting work with nearby communities.
