Lakeview Lodge Karapiro

Lake Karapiro spreads below the deck at Lakeview Lodge, still water framed by pasture and a line of hills beyond. The property sits on a 40-hectare farm between Cambridge and Tirau, with two self-contained lodges built around that view. The Hamptons holds four king suites and a twin room, ten guests in all, with a light-filled living space opening onto a wide deck over the lake. The Huntington leans warmer, two king bedrooms upstairs and a cabin room below that sleeps eight, its lounge opening onto the garden. Between them the lodges sleep up to twenty-two. Kitchens are fully equipped, stocked with garden vegetables, herbs and citrus for guests to use freely. A continental breakfast comes with every stay. Evenings run to kayak trips on the lake's southern shore, glow worms visible from the water after dark. Hobbiton is a fifteen-minute drive, Sanctuary Mountain's forest and predator-proof fence line not much further, and a helipad on the front lawn takes scenic flights out over the coast. It is a working farm setting more than a resort one. Wi-fi and laundry are complimentary throughout, and the whole property runs on the honest logic of a self-catering lodge rather than a serviced hotel.
