Singita Sasakwa Lodge

Singita Sasakwa Lodge sits on Sasakwa Hill inside the Singita Grumeti Reserve, a 350,000-acre private concession in northern Tanzania that borders the Serengeti. From this elevated position, the grasslands spread out below every veranda. The building was designed in the style of an Edwardian manor house — a grand entrance, wraparound verandas, antique furnishings, silver candelabras — and meals are served al fresco on the lawns or in the open courtyard after dark.

The lodge holds nine private cottages and one villa, ranging from one to four bedrooms. Each unit has its own infinity pool, a separate lounge area, en-suite bathrooms with both shower and bath, air conditioning, and a veranda. Families or groups can book multi-bedroom cottages that share a central lounge and pool. The Hillside Suite sits apart from the main lodge with its own vehicle, Field Guide, butler service, and a rim-flow pool facing the plains.

Game drives run twice daily with a Field Guide, and hot-air balloon flights can be chartered over the Serengeti at dawn. Game walks, guided birding, tennis, a spa, a fitness centre, and a wine cellar with sommelier service are all available on the reserve. The Grumeti Fund's community outreach programme, which works with twenty-one villages bordering the reserve, is open to guests as a guided visit.

The Great Migration passes through the Grumeti concession, typically during the dry-season crossing of the Grumeti River.
