The Sanchaya Bintan

Framed by white sand along Lagoi Bay, the villas at The Sanchaya face the South China Sea across neutral, earth-toned interiors and open-style bathrooms with freestanding Lefroy Brooks tubs. Most rooms open onto a veranda or balcony; several at The Great House, the estate's colonial-style manor, look down over a 50-metre infinity pool toward open water. Seven Thai-style villas sit around a private lagoon at Lawan Village, each with a balcony over the reeds. The Great House pairs hardwood floors with black-and-white panelling and houses The Dining Room, serving European and Indonesian food under linen curtains and French doors. Tasanee Grill serves Thai street food beside the pool, and The Bar keeps a cigar case and a resident mixologist in a room styled like a colonial club. A Balinese-inspired spa offers four treatment rooms and garden cabanas, and the lawns hold croquet, archery and a pétanque court. It is a 50-minute fast ferry from Singapore's Tanah Merah terminal, with express immigration and a private arrival lounge at Bandar Bentan Telani. From there it is a 10-minute drive to the estate.
