Wilderness King's Pool

Game drives cross the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve on tracks that follow the oxbow lagoon and the fault line running beneath it. Rangers adjust routes according to what has been sighted that morning—elephant herds moving between the river and mopane woodland, lion prides resting in shade, sable antelope emerging near the floodplain edge. Night drives use spotlights to track leopard, hyena, and genet along the channel. Walking safaris with armed guides thread through the reserve on foot, pacing according to wind direction and animal proximity. The camp overlooks the lagoon from a grove of jackalberry trees in the reserve's northern sector, eight kilometres from the Namibian border. Eight tented suites—seven twins and one family unit sleeping four—sit on raised decks facing the water. Canvas, thatch, and timber frame each structure. The family suite has two separate rooms, en-suite facilities in both, and a private plunge pool. All suites have ceiling fans, mosquito nets, outdoor showers, minibars, safes, and verandas. An underground hide descends below the main deck to water level, where you watch elephants drink and bathe from behind glass—trunks and feet within a metre of the viewing panel. The Queen Silvia barge—a double-decker pontoon—carries sundowner cruises along the Linyanti River at dusk. Catch-and-release fishing operates March through December. The camp has a pool, a bar, a library, and complimentary laundry. Massages are available in-suite. Solar panels supply all power.
