Pretty Beach House

Arrival is by road or seaplane, over the escarpment above Pretty Beach and into bushland that closes in on three sides. Bouddi National Park surrounds the property, and Broken Bay opens out below. The lodge holds just four pavilions, so no more than four couples stay at once. Each has a king bedroom, a separate dressing room and a wood-burning fire, and three of the four open onto a private heated plunge pool and outdoor day bed. Bayview is split-level with garden and bay views from its wraparound deck. Treetops sits above the main house, its balcony looking through the tree canopy to Hardy's Bay. Hideaway keeps a cast-iron slipper bath and a record player. The Retreat spans two floors, with a separate sitting room upstairs and a freestanding bath below. The main house holds a dining room warmed by an open sandstone fire, a library, a brass-fronted bar and a wine cellar chosen by the owner. Meals draw on local seafood and native ingredients, and change daily. Guests kayak, sail or fish the bay, walk marked trails through the park, or join a guide to Aboriginal rock carvings recorded at over 2,000 years old. An infinity pool and day spa sit off the main house. Check-in runs from 2pm.
