Built around the natural hot springs that rise at the base of Arenal Volcano, The Springs Resort & Spa turned a geothermal feature into the heart of a 165-acre rainforest property. Spring water still feeds the resort's pools and several private in-room jacuzzis, warmed by the same volcanic activity that shaped the valley. The 102 rooms and suites range from Vista rooms with king beds and volcano views to two-bedroom Aracari Suites with 12-foot ceilings; most balconies come strung with hammocks rather than standard patio chairs. Below the main buildings, forest trails link seven spring-fed pools at Perdido Springs, while Club Rio Adventure Center sits along a mile of Arenal River frontage. It runs kayaking, tubing, horseback riding, and rock climbing, plus an animal sanctuary for rescued wildlife. Guided walks and birdwatching are offered daily. You can watch the volcano from a swim-up bar at La Laguna, where waterfalls edge the pool. It is a resort built in layers, forest, water, and stone, rather than around a single view. Wi-fi and air conditioning are standard throughout, and the spa runs a full treatment menu drawing on the same thermal water below the surface.
