Xigera Safari Lodge

Xigera sits on one of the Okavango Delta's main waterways inside Moremi Game Reserve, on a private concession of four thousand five hundred hectares surrounded by papyrus swamps and wooded islands. The lodge runs entirely on solar power and holds twelve suites, each individually designed. Eleven standard suites each have a separate lounge, bedroom, dressing area, full bathroom, outdoor shower, and a private deck with a gazebo looking out over the floodplains. The family suite connects two complete en-suite bedrooms, one king, one twin, through a shared lounge that opens onto its own deck.

The concession falls within a designated International Birding Area. More than five hundred bird species have been recorded across the Okavango Delta, and the waterways here draw dedicated birders after species that are hard to find elsewhere in Botswana: Wattled Crane, African Skimmer, Coppery-tailed Coucal, and Western-banded Snake Eagle among them. Mammals on the concession include sitatunga, present in high density, red lechwe, elephant, buffalo, spotted-necked otter, lion, leopard, and spotted hyaena.

Activities run from mokoro excursions through the Delta channels, guided by polers who grew up on the water, to game drives, guided bush walks, boating on the larger channels and lagoons, and catch-and-release fishing for tigerfish and bream. Boating and fishing are both seasonal, subject to water levels. A steel treehouse structure set ten metres above the floodplains, one kilometre from the lodge, is available for overnight stays at a surcharge. The lodge also holds a spa, gym, pool, library, and rooms furnished throughout with African art and craft.
